Qatar Airways Company Q.C.S.C., operating as Qatar Airways, is Qatar's state-owned flag carrier. The company is headquartered in Qatar Airways Tower in Doha, and operates hub-and-spoke network which links more than 150 international destinations across Central Asia, South Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East, Far East, Oceania, South America and North America from its base located at Hamad International Airport via a fleet of over 180 aircraft.

Qatar Airways Group has more than 40,000 employers, of whom 24,000 people work for Qatar Airways. The airline has been a member of Oneworld alliance since October 2013, thus becoming the first carrier in the Gulf to sign with one of the 3 airline alliances.

Qatar Airways

  • On May 27, 2014 the landing of a flight from Bahrain at Hamad International Airport in Doha marked the official transfer of operations to Qatar Airways' new hub, and replacing Doha International Airport.
  • 14 additional destinations were added to the network of Qatar Airways during 2012, such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Baghdad, Gassim, Erbil, Kigali, Kiliminjaro, Mombasa, Maputo, Perth, Saint Petersburg, Yangon, Zagreb and Warsaw.
  • As of December 2014, the carrier served a total of 146 points worldwide. Qatar Airways had previously added to the route network Dallas, its 7th destination in the United States and the 2nd one in Texas along with Miami, Houston, Haneda, Edinburgh, its 3rd destination in the UK, Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, its 3rd point served in Turkey, and Djibouti. As of June 2015, the carrier serves Amsterdam, and in December 2015, Qatar Airways announced it will serve Durban.
  • On October 8, 2012 the airline announced it would become part of Oneworld within the next 18 months. The entrance into the alliance of Qatar Airways was mentored by British Airways. On October 29, 2013. the joining ceremony took place. The event marked the company as the first major Gulf carrier being part of airline alliance.
  • Since June 2017, airplanes owned by Qatar Airways have been banned from Saudi and UAE ports due to diplomatic crisis. Aircraft owned by the 2 countries were banned from Qatar ports.

Qatar Airways Classes

  • First class. Qatar Airways First class passengers benefit from more than 6.5 ft of legroom and seats which fold into flat beds and offer feather duvets. The seats have massage functions and entertainment system. First class, which is available only onboard A380s, is configured as 1-2-1 and has a 90-inch seat pitch, which transforms into fully flat bed with Frette linen and duvet, along with a variety of entertainment options displayed on 26-inch TV screens. All new Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 aircraft are in standard 2-class configuration. Up to 4,000 in-flight entertainment options are provided, along with delicious dine-on-demand cuisine, generous storage and advanced LED lighting. Passengers can stay connected with Qatar Airways' OnAir mobile service, USB plug and laptop power. On-board Wi-Fi is also provided.
  • Business class. Qatar Airways Business class offers fully flat horizontal beds that feature direct aisle access in 1-2-1 configuration onboard Airbus A350, Airbus A380, and Boeing 787 aircraft. Business class seats on other long and medium-haul aircraft are in 2-2-2 configuration with flat bed seats that offer 180-degree recline, with massage functions. In March 2017, the carrier revealed its new business class cabin called "Qsuite." This new kind of cabin offers suites with doors arranged in 1-2-1 configuration. Middle section suites are converted into quad room, allowing 4 passengers to face each other in set up like a dining-room. Select "couple" seat pairs can be converted into double bed. Qatar Airways Business class offers great design and high-tech amenities. Passengers can adapt their personal space to suit their needs, get productive with generous work surface, or catch some sleep. Up to 4,000 in-flight entertainment options are provided, along with delicious dine-on-demand cuisine, generous storage and advanced LED lighting. Passengers can stay connected with Qatar Airways' OnAir mobile service, USB plug and laptop power. Wi-Fi services are available onboard A319, A380, A350, B787 and selected A320, A321 and A330 aircraft. Oryx One’s innovative system boasts an intuitive touch screen, and through the very first dual-screen interface provided onboard all Qatar Airways A350, A380 and B787 aircraft, passengers are able to multitask. Wines and Champagne are served. 
  • Economy class. Qatar Airways Economy class was named world's best in 2009 and 2010 Skytrax Awards. The carrier offers a seat pitch of up to 34 inches. Each Economy class seat comes with 10.6 inch in seat TV monitor and an amenity kit full of essentials including an Institut Karite Paris lip balm, Miradent dental kit, socks, ear plugs and eye mask. Up to 4,000 in-flight entertainment options are provided, along with Qatar Airways' OnAir mobile service, USB plug and laptop power. Wi-Fi services are available onboard A319, A380, A350, B787 and selected A320, A321 and A330 aircraft.

Baggage 

  • Carry-on baggage: In addition to regular checked-in baggage allowance passengers may carry, they may also bring hand baggage onboard the cabin during their Qatar Airways flight. First and Business class guests are allowed to carry 2 pieces of carry-on baggage onboard, not exceeding a total weight of 15 kg (33 lbs). Economy class passengers are allowed to carry 1 piece of baggage, not exceeding 7 kg (15 lbs). For tickets issued in Brazil, customers in Economy class on flights to/from Brazil are allowed to carry 1 piece of baggage, not exceeding 10 kg (22 lbs).
  • Checked baggage: Passengers on flights to/from Brazil are allowed 2 pieces of checked baggage, each not exceeding 32 kg (70 lbs) and maximum dimension of 158 cm (62 in). On flights between Brazil-Argentina and all other flights to/from Argentina, Canada, and the United States, First and Business class passengers are allowed 2 pieces of checked baggage, each not exceeding 32 kg (70 lbs) and maximum dimensions 158 cm (62 in). Economy Class passengers are allowed 2 pieces each not exceeding 23 kg (50 lbs) and maximum dimensions 158 cm (62 in). On flights to/from all other desintations, allowed checked baggage is: First Class 50 kg (110 lbs), Business Class 40kg (88 lbs), Economy Class 30 kg (66 lbs).

Boarding 

  • Online check-in for Qatar Airways flights from the United States opens 24 hours before departure and check-in for flights to the United States opens 24 hours before departure from Doha.
  • For all other flights, Qatar Airways online check-in is open 48 hours to 90 minutes prior to flight departure.
  • All Qatar Airways clients who have confirmed booking can use the online service. Travellers must have their passport and Privilege Club card at hand as they check in because they may need to enter APIS (Advance Passenger Information). After online check-in, passengers have to print their boarding pass, send it to their mobile phone, or email.
  • Passengers who don't have checked luggage can directly go to the gate. Those with bags to check can go to a dedicated fast bag drop counter.
  • The carrier recommends passengers check-in 3 hours before their departure time. Qatar Airways check-in counter closes 1 hour before departure, while the boarding gates close 20 minutes prior to departure. Times may vary depending on the departure airport.
  • Passengers have to make sure that they have all the necessary visas and documents for all the countries they will be visiting on their journey.

Food & Drinks

Qatar Airways boasts with gourmet cuisine and beverage service onboard. Medium and long-haul flights feature a selection of international cuisines that range from Europe, Indian sub-continent, Middle East and Far East. A broad range of complimentary snacks and beverages is also served onboard. 

All meals are prepared with a focus on the freshness and quality of ingredients. Passengers are able to dine in extra-wide comfortable seats, and choose from various appetisers, main courses and desserts.

A range of refreshments is also offered, before, during and after meals, such as fruity fizz, spicy zest, fruit juices and mocktails. Passengers can also relax and unwind with freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee served after each meal.

Most dietary requirements are easily accommodated by Qatar Airways. The carrier offers a selection of special meals to cater to various dietary requirements. Those who need a special meal on their flight, must let Qatar Airways know at the time of booking, or contact the local office of the company at least 24 hours before departure to request a preferred meal.
