French Mirage 2000D Disappears from Radar Near Swiss Border

French Air Force's Mirage 2000D tactical bomber crashed in eastern France on Wednesday, January 9, after disappearing from radars. According to France 3, the debris of the aircraft has been already found - a parachute has been discovered at the site of the accident and the search operation to find the aircraft's crew is ongoing.

The bomber disappeared from radars at 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00 GMT) Wednesday morning after taking off from Nancy-Ochey airbase with 2 crew members onboard. It vanished when flying over the mountains in the eastern region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte in France, close to the border with Switzerland.

The information about the disappearance of the bomber was later confirmed by the French Defense Ministry. They announced that the bomber was carrying out a training flight when the accident occurred.
