VIDEO: Passenger Plane Crash Lands in Russia with 170 Onboard

A supervisor at Sochi airport died during emergency response after a landing airplane careered off the end of a runway into the riverbed and caught fire.

According to the health ministry, 18 people were injured in the incident, which occurred about 3:00 a.m. as the UTair Aviation (UTA) operated Boeing 737 flying from Moscow, and carrying 164 passengers and 6 crew members, was landing.

The fire was extinguished within 8 minutes.

Transportation minister Yevgeny Ditrikh revealed that airport shift supervisor Vladimir Begiyan, one of the first responders to the crash, had died of heart attack at the scene.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.
